Day 21: Welcome To The Real World

This morning I landed in a little bit of bucoli heaven at Commonworks organic farm and sustainable solutions study centre at Bore Place, Edenbridge, Kent, England.  I am here for a 5 day immersion to study the Alchemy 4 Success with William Whitecloud.  We are working with the premise that to be who we truly are we have to wake up and keep ourselves awake.  With a 6am start to get here this was a very real physical challenge, poignantly mirroring the metaphorical challenge.  This is not a course for the faint hearted as we grappled with deciphering the patterns of belief in our consciousness, the lead, the raw material for the alchemical process. Sleepy eyed and stuffed to the gills with food and the fodder of learning we finish our day with a powerful assimiliation of the day one of our journey watching The Matrix.  I have to admit that I have never been drawn to this movie and the only time I have ever tried to watch it I have fallen asleep but as I see the flickering green letters spider across the screen I get the feeling tonight will be different when I see that they spell out “Are you awake?”

Morpheus: The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work… when you go to church… when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else you were born into bondage. Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch. A prison for your mind.
Morpheus: I’m trying to free your mind, Neo. But I can only show you the door. You’re the one that has to walk through it.
100 Days of Awe is a playful project I set up to bring my attention to awe in my daily life. I see awe as wonder, a mixture of amazement and respect.  I expect the experience of awe to be about perception shifting awareness and that demands a reframing of some sort.  I am excited to see what will awe me on this journey.
