100 Days Of Awe: Day Thirty Three – In Praise Of A Hair Dresser

Day 33: In Praise Of A Hair DresserIMG-20140424-WA0007Well my topic for today was a no brainer. This is a picture of a one very happy bunny.  I cannot tell you how nourishing and vibrationally transformational a few hours being coiffured in the hands of a great hair dresser can be.  If you have had the experience you will understand, if not you may be bemused and unbelieving.  Although the subtlties of the cut and colour are hard to make out in the photo it is the emotion of the experience that truly fills me; Andrew loves hair and I feel whenever I am with him that he loves my hair in particular.  There is no humming and hawing, tip toeing around me, he cuts straight to the chase of his vision for my transformation.  I am putty in his hands.

I met Andrew in 2001 – our mutual broken heartedness was the start of a friendship that has seen me have my hair cut all over London, including the intimacy of my own home, as well as Eindhoven, Holland, Barcelona & Madrid in Spain and today the likelihood of adding Saint Lucia to the list increased substantially.  Much and all as I have a travelling soul it was I following Andrew rather than the other way round.  Andrew was born in Saint Lucia but grew up in London, and he has hard grafted to create a home for himself back on the island overlooking the sea.  We are both peripatatic souls but I love the golden sinuous threads of Whatsapp to keep us connected.  Andrew is currently working out of Smiths Salon in Clapham and if you mention my name he just might work an extra little bit of magic for you.

100 Days of Awe is a playful project I set up to bring my attention to awe in my daily life. I see awe as wonder, a mixture of amazement and respect.  I expect the experience of awe to be about perception shifting awareness and that demands a reframing of some sort.  I am excited to see what will awe me on this journey.
